Valencia vs Sporting Gijon Preview and Prediction

Sporting Gijon travel to the southern coastline for their Matchday 27 clash at Valencia in an attempt to finally earn points and plot an escape from the relegation zone, after suffering two disappointing losses last week (6-1 at Barcelona and 0-1 to Deportivo La Coruna).

However, Valencia have largely improved their home form since mid-January and escaped the immediate danger zone with four wins (including 2-0 over Athletic Bilbao and 2-1 over Real Madrid) and just a single loss (0-4 to Eibar) since then. We thus see them very confident at this point and we’ll back Voro’s men to secure the points (at 2/5 with William Hill) and build on their mid-table position.

Los Che have suffered a thrashing 3-0 loss at Atletico Madrid last week, which further deepened their crisis on the road (three losses and a draw in last four away games). Nonetheless, their home form has remained pretty much intact in the process and we don’t feel their confidence will now be dented ahead of the clash.

With both sides scoring and conceding a lot of goals recently, we’ll be going for Over 2.5 goals FT here too, at 8/13 with bet365, in hope we’ll see both sides inspired in the final third and visitors challenging Valencia for points. Despite their poor records, Gijon have netted five goals in their last five outings and with Valencia struggling to keep clean sheets recently, we certainly could be in for another thriller at Mestalla.

Valencia vs. Sporting Gijon Stats
Although Valencia dropped the home points in their last head-to-head encounter at this ground (0-1 loss in January 2016), they have earned two wins at Estadio Municipal El Molinon in the process (0-1 in September 2015 and 1-2 in October 2016) and we do feel this will be a perfect chance to further boost their records against Gijon (currently 11 wins, five draws, and five losses against the rivals).
