The current situation concerning the spread of the coronavirus calls for disciplined and creative solutions from all of us. FC Bayern are also facing an extraordinary task. For some time now, regular training at the club’s training ground, Säbener Straße, has been suspended. In order to nonetheless still keep the players fit, the club and the coaching staff led by Hansi Flick have come up with an unusual solution: Putting the Bayern pros through their paces online whilst they stay at home. In the video you can see just how Bayern’s first virtual sessions went.


“The whole group will take part in the session. In addition to this, I’ve already started to exchange information with small groups of players via video calls,” Flick explained. “Our team of coaches has planned sessions that can last 90 minutes or just 75 minutes, depending on the focus of training. Basically, we’ll alternate between basic endurance and high-intensity interval training, as well as strength and conditioning training.”

Connecting virtually and in good spirits!
During the sessions there is a live video transmission from Säbener Straße, where mainly Prof. Dr. Holger Broich, scientific director and head of fitness at FC Bayern, dictates the exercises. These vary from endurance training, for example with the use of spinning bikes, to strength and conditioning sessions. “What makes me very happy is the positive group atmosphere that is generated, even when everyone is only virtually connected,” said Broich.
