Legia Warsaw vs Trencin:
Champions League Qualifiers.
Date: Wednesday, August 3, 2016,
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Polish Army Stadium (Warsaw).

Legia Warsaw are keen to build up on the 1-0 lead from first leg, when they welcome Slovakian outfit AS Trencin for the second leg clash on Wednesday night.

A 69th minute goal from Nemanja Nikolic was the difference at the Pod Dubnom in Zilina a week ago that gave the defending Polish champions a much needed advantage in the second leg clash. But this is only half time of this tie and there is everything left to play to decide who will make it to the final round of play-off for a place in the Champions League group stage of the 2016/17 edition.

AS Trencin defeated Olimpija Ljubljana on away goal rule in the second round of the qualifiers after the scorer were tied on 6-6 aggregate. They were beaten 3-2 at home on that occasion, but 4-3 win in the away leg helped them get ahead on the away goal rule. They once again find themselves in need for a win away from home.

Legia Warsaw were held to a 1-1 away draw by HSK Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first leg clash of the second qualifying round. But they bounced back with a 2-0 win at home and earning a place in the next round of the competition. They will be keen to take another forward for their first Champions League group stage appearance since 1995/96.

Legia Warsaw vs Trencin: Head-to-Head Stats

The first leg clash on 27 July, 2016 is the first ever meeting between AS Trencin and Legia Warszawa in a UEFA Competition.

Trecin haven’t played against any other sides from Poland. While Legia had met a Slovakian side in Slovan Bratislava during the preliminary rounds of 1956 European Champions Cup. They lost the away leg in Bratislava 4-0 and a 2-0 win in the return leg.

Legia Warsaw vs Trencin: Prediction

Legia are unbeaten in the 6 competitive games this season with 3 wins and 3 draws. They will back themselves to get a result at home, especially when they are 1-0 up after the first leg.

Since the 4-3 away win over Olimpija Ljubljana, Trecin lost in 3 of their 4 competitive matches. They haven’t scored in the last two matches and will be low on confidence.

This is a perfect opportunity for Legia to finish off the tie and I believe they will remain unbeaten at the end of the regulation ninety minutes. Considering the nature of the match, I believe both teams will score at least 1 goal here, with a higher chance of seeing over 2.5 goals.
