Thomas Vermaelen will reportedly arrive in Italy for his Roma medical tomorrow, ahead of his move from Barcelona.

Reports have been growing that the Belgian centre-back is close to the Giallorossi, and it was claimed earlier today that a transfer had been agreed.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is reporting that Vermaelen will fly into the Italian capital tomorrow, ahead of his medical at Villa Stuart on Monday.

Assuming that no problems are flagged-up during the tests, the former Arsenal man’s move will be officially confirmed based on a €2m loan with a €10m buyout clause.

In contrast to previous reports, Di Marzio believes that the €10m will be an option to buy, rather than an obligation.
