Fabian Ruiz has spoken enthusiastically about his first few months in Naples in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I like Naples – I feel important here,” he said. “We have an extraordinary group here. In the beginning I was a bit lost because I didn’t know the language, but the lads in the dressing room took me under their wing and I became one of them really quickly. It’s a fantastic city and I often go out with [Dries] Mertens, who shows me around – he’s a real brother to me. I’m getting to know all the lovely parts of Naples and the fans always show me a lot of love.”

You’ve already scored three goals this season. Does Ancelotti see you as more of an advanced player?

“Yeah, the coach is giving me a lot of confidence. I get forward more than I did when I was in Spain on account of my position in the team set-up, but scoring isn’t everything for me. Of course I like getting forward to go for goal, but the most important thing is the balance of the team.”

Do you believe you can win the Scudetto?

“Nine points is a big gap and Juve are a very good side, but anything can happen in football. Right now we just want to win every game.”

You’ll be starting in the Europa League soon…

“It would be a great trophy to win. We really want to go far in the competition and we’ll try to go all the way. There are lots of competitive teams in the competition but we’ve shown we can match anyone.”

What are your objectives for 2019?

“I’m happy to be here at Napoli. This is a big club – they wanted me and are really helping me. We have a fantastic group here and a coach who’s a winner. I want to keep doing what I’m doing and maybe get even better because you can always improve. We want to achieve big things in the future…”
