Following Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium, the Foxes will travel to the capital currently occupying third place in the Premier League standings.

While Pérez admits securing such a lofty final league position would be a source of enormous pride for the Football Club, the 26-year-old insists there is still much work to be done.

Reflecting first on that triumph against Palace on Filbert Way, the former Newcastle United forward outlined why registering such a comprehensive win could be crucial for Leicester.

“It was a great win and result for us,” the Spaniard said earlier this week. “We’re back to winning ways now. It was an important three points in a massive game for us.

“It’s always important to get that first win after a few bad results and the team is getting more confidence now after earning a clean sheet and scoring three goals.

“There’s a lot of positives from the performance, but it doesn’t stop for us. We’ve got another test now and we need to make sure we’re ready for it.

“Hopefully we can build some momentum and keep getting results.”

With five games still to play – starting at Emirates Stadium – Pérez says the Foxes squad can now approach the final run-in with confidence as they look to end the season on a high.

It’s still not done, nothing’s done yet, but we’re getting closer to the objective. Our place in the league is special for us, but the job is not done.

“I believe in my team-mates and what we’ve done so far,” he explained. “The mentality is to go game by game. We’ve now got one less game to play and we’re still in the same position.

“We need to make sure we protect it now, so we must think about the next game and make sure we get a result to keep that position.

“We’re in a great position with not many games left. That means we’ve done well so far and a lot of the credit for that goes to the manager and to the team.

“It’s still not done, nothing’s done yet, but we’re getting closer to the objective. Our place in the league is special for us, but the job is not done.

“I’ve felt very good to be here in my first season. At some points, I could have been more regular in terms of scoring goals, but I am happy to be helping the team.

“I’ve enjoyed the different kind of football we play here too, so it’s been a great year for me. Hopefully we can finish it off now in a good way.”

Arsenal, meanwhile, have won their last three Premier League games – over Southampton, Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers – and Pérez anticipates a difficult game.

“They are playing good football and getting results, which is important for them, so it’s a tough test,” he continued. “It’s always hard to go to their place, but we’re ready.

The Arsenal team looks like they’re getting better results and their young players are performing as well, so they are in good form and have something to build up from.

“The win the other day was important for us. We know the importance of this game. Now, they’re all going to be like finals for us, so obviously it’s going to be tough. We’re ready to go.

“The [Arsenal] team looks like they’re getting better results and their young players are performing as well, so they are in good form and have something to build up from.

“But, for us, we’re thinking about ourselves. Everything is in our hands and we’ll go there to do our jobs.”
