Sky Sports News HQ reported back in April that Madrid would trigger a back-back clause inserted into the Spain striker’s contract when he signed for Juve from Real in 2014.

Morata, who was a graduate of Real’s youth academy, joined Juve for £16m and scored 25 goals for the Serie A champions, and it has cost Real just £24m to bring him back to the Bernabeu.

However, it is not known yet whether Real’s intention is to sell Morata on again to another club, with the forward reportedly of interest to top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal.

Juventus confirmed in a statement: “We can today confirm that Alvaro Morata will return to Real Madrid after two seasons in Turin following the Spanish outfit’s decision to activate the forward’s buy-back clause.

“All associated with Juventus would like to wish Alvaro the very best of luck wherever his future may take him and thank him for two truly excellent years of service to the team.”
