It is the first London Derby of the season as Arsenal and Chelsea lock horns at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 24th September 2016. Both teams will go into this match level on 10 points and occupy 4th and 5th position in the standings respectively.

Arsenal on the other hand are turning on the heat with three straight wins in the league. They have lost to Liverpool at home in the opening matchday of the season and are unbeaten in 6 competitive matches since then. The form is all good for Arsene Wenger and his men at the moment. But they haven’t done well against Chelsea in recent outings and lost both the fixtures of last season Premier League.

Chelsea are not in the best of the forms as they suffered a defeat to Liverpool and held to a draw by Swansea in the previous two league fixtures. However the extra time win against Leicester City in the League Cup could improve their morale slightly. The Blues are currently fifth in the league table, one spot below Arsenal on same points.

Arsenal vs Chelsea: Head-to-Head

The corresponding fixture of last season at the Emirates ended in a 1-0 win for visiting Chelsea and was less eventful. While the first meeting of the season was had plenty of controversies. Arsenal defender Gabriel and Chelsea striker Diego Costa were involved in an altercation which eventually saw Gabriel receiving a red card. While Costa was a handed a length ban later. The Blues won it 2-0 and Arsenal finished the match with 9 men, with Santi Cazorla being the second victim of the red card.

Arsenal are also without a win in the last 5 league games at home against Chelsea. They lost twice and took a point from the other three.

Chelsea are unbeaten in 10 of the last 11 meetings with Arsenal in all competitions, with their lone defeat coming in the 2015/16 Community Shied Cup in a neutral venue Wembley.

Arsenal vs Chelsea: Prediction

The Gunners haven’t done well against their bitter rivals in over a decade now. Whatever kind of form they are in, they will be going in with a lot of pressure when facing a team like Chelsea. And ultimately the referee has some role to play in the outcome of the match.

Michael Oliver is chosen to officiate the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal have failed to win in 8 of the last 13 matches Oliver has officiated. While Chelsea are unbeaten in 13 matches with Oliver as the referee.

It’s enough said and it is will be safe to back Chelsea to come out with at least a point from this encounter. After seeing Arsenal in the matches against quality sides, I am of the opinion that the Blues will win this eventually.

Correct Full Time Score 0-2 Chelsea at 16/1 (17.00)
