Gareth Bale was the star of the show as Wales cinched a win over Azerbaijan in their Euro 2020 qualifier. At 1-1 with just 7 minutes to go, the Real Madrid star struck a thumping header to make it 2-1 at full time and pick up three points for his side. It was also his shot that ricocheted in off an opposition player in the first half that opened the scoring for his side.

Wales needed to win at home against the bottom placed side if they wanted to keep their hopes of qualifying alive. With this in mind, they managed to dominate possession for large parts of the first half. Wales went ahead on minute 23 after Bale was heavily involved in the goal. His shot was initially saved but rebounded off the visiting side’s centre-half, who was left helpless as the ball went into the back of the net. On 53 minutes, Azerbaijan managed to draw level. The game went on and seemed all but settled before Bale headed an unstoppable shot in on 83 minutes to rescue a vital win for his side.
