In the match against Athletic, which ended in a Real Madrid win at the Santiago Bernabéu, Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick and played his 50th game of the season. The French forward is the first player in the Whites’ squad to reach this figure in a campaign in which he has only missed two games: the second legs of the Copa del Rey matches against Melilla and Leganés.

None of his teammates can catch him before the end of the season. Modric is next on the list with 43 appearances; Sergio Ramos and Lucas Vázquez played 42; and Casemiro, Bale and Asensio are tied on 40 games each.

Assists
Benzema leads the way for Real Madrid when it comes to the most matches and is also the team’s top scorer thanks to the 30 goals he’s netted. Between them, the seven braces stand out, coming against Girona (twice), Leganés, Viktoria Plzen, Espanyol, Valladolid and Éibar as well as his hat-trick against Athletic. The Frenchman is also one of the front runners when it comes to assist. He has already set up seven goals, the same as Vinicius Jr and only one less than Modric.
