Cavani, 31, is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain through to June 2020 but this has done nothing to dampen speculation that he could be moving on in the summer – to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, or to return to forme club Napoli, for whom he scored 103 goals in just 78 league appearances. Nonetheless, the man from Salto in Uruguay said he is happy where he is.

Champions League dream
I enjoy the support of the club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, he’s by my side and gives me a lot of confidence, Cavani sad. When I arrived, the directors told me about the project and the desire to win the Champions League. It’s important for me and for the club. I’d love to win it, and if that happens with PSG it would be magnificent. I’ve spent a lot of time with the fans here and, after a while, you start to really feel a connection, as if I had been a fan of this club my whole life.

‘I miss my country’
I know football. You can be here today and then somewhere else tomorrow, said the former Palermo and Napoli hitman who is Paris Saint-Germain’s all-time top scorer. That doesn’t mean that things aren’t going well at you club! I stayed here in Paris to win the Champions League, but I don’t know how long I will be here for. My contract runs through to 2020 and I will respect it. There have been no extension discussions so far. So we’ll see. I’m a long way from my family. I miss them, and I miss my country.
