There were contrasting winning experiences in the Chelsea changing room as the players celebrated Saturday’s success at Wembley. For a striker with a love affair with the FA Cup like Olivier Giroud, it was his fourth time lifting the trophy whereas for others, Victor Moses included, the winners’ medal is a new one in his collection.

Giroud, who played an important part in getting his new club to the final, confirmed that beating Manchester United was certainly a moment to enjoy.

‘It is such a great feeling,’ he said. ‘I am very proud, even more because I have been here three-and-a-half months and I wanted to be ready as quick as I can.

‘My team-mates welcomed me very well and I received a warm welcome from the fans as well, so I feel like I have played here a few years and I have been very happy. I have just enjoyed the game on the pitch and it was very tough, because Man United played a great game and we have been a bit lucky sometimes, but we won and we are very pleased with that. It is my fourth one, but the most important is that it is my first trophy with Chelsea after three months.’

For Victor Moses, there was the added significance of being on the winning side having been sent-off 12 months earlier in the final against Arsenal.

‘I am very pleased. After what happened last year this was different and we are very pleased to win the game,‘ said the wing-back.

‘I thought we were tremendous. Man United kept coming at us second half. In the first half I thought we had done very well and should have scored more goals, but we kept it cool and we were very solid at the back. We know we have the ability to defend.

‘All the lads who have never won it before are very happy and we are very happy to win this FA Cup, it is very important for us.’
