Here’s what Antonio Conte had to say speaking to DAZN at full-time:

How did this win come about and what positives does it show with regard to the future?

“I’m happy with what this team has achieved, 43 points away from home, the best defence and the second best attack in the league, the fewest conceded for any team and how well we caught up to the other teams, but the credit goes to the players and those who worked alongside them. With all the difficulties we encountered this year, also in terms of injuries, I think that we did a great job and these are numbers to be proud of, like the 82 points we earned.”

82 points, just one off Juventus, is that something that brings you satisfaction at having reduced the gap or not?

“I think there’s still a gap between us and Juventus. We have to be balanced, without beating ourselves up or being overly happy with ourselves. We did what we had to in the league, just like the Coppa Italia, and now there’s the Europa League to think about. We’ll try and give a good account of ourselves, we have to finish this year in the best way possible. I’d like to thank this group of professionals, they’ve done so much this year.”

What’s missing?

“Right now, Juventus have shown that they’re stronger, they’ve worked hard to improve. It will be extremely difficult because they’ve got a strong structure.”

This evening, Inter took to the pitch with a 3-5-2 formation after having used a 3-4-1-2 set-up in several games after the break. Was that just something for this game or was it also in preparation for the Europa League?

“When we were preparing for this one, we drew confidence from how well we played in the reverse fixture, of course excluding late in the game when Atalanta found the equaliser and they came close to winning with a penalty. We prepared for today brilliantly, the boys have come a long way since last time, and today we were particularly good off the ball. The team kept pushing forward, but then there were also situations where we were really patient and measured in our build-up. All credit to Gasperini, who brought some new tactics to the table tonight, and when you’re playing against Atalanta you’re bound to have some difficulties. We prepared well for our game on and off the ball. The boys did really well tonight.”

Lukaku has scored 29 goals this season – you must be very pleased with that. What kind of room for improvement is there?

“He’s a powerful forward, I was following his progress back when I was at Chelsea, but then United snapped him up. He’s not a typical footballer, and opposition defenders are well aware of the fact that he’s got the pace of an American Football player. If he improves just a few minor details he can become a one-of-a-kind player. But Lautaro and Alexis did brilliantly today too. All the boys gave it their all and I can’t thank them enough for that.”
