Coronavirus deaths have now surpassed 10,000 in Italy, with another 889 fatalities on Saturday.

Yesterday saw Italy record its worst daily death toll, of 969, since the COVID-19 pandemic first began.

Although that figure has dropped to 889 in the last 24 hours, 10,023 have now died from the virus.

On the plus side, 1,434 more people have recovered (+845 since Friday).

There are now 92,472 cases of coronavirus on the peninsula, with 70,065 of those active.
