Bayern already have two titles in the bag this season with the DFB Cup and the Bundesliga, but Hansi Flick and his team are not satisfied yet. In the final phase of the Champions League starting in August, the men from Munich are going all out for the big prize. “I’m looking forward to preparing for the next stage with the team after the holiday – that is of course the Champions League,” said the 55-year-old coach as he brought the two trophies to the FC Bayern Museum on Monday.

Hansi Flick is aiming to achieve the third major goal of the season with this timetable.

But before the preparation starts, there will be a few days off. “The players have time to breathe deeply, to recover mentally and to release energy,” said Flick. Preparation begins on 20 July with the first coronavirus tests, followed by an online training session. The three new arrivals Leroy Sané, Tanguy Nianzou and Alexander Nübel will be integrated here.

After further coronavirus tests, the transition to small group training (from 23 July) and team training (from 26 July) will follow, before the round of 16 second leg against Chelsea (FCB lead 3-0 from the first leg) on 7 or 8 August (exact timing to be confirmed 10 July).
