Marseille vs Angers Preview and Prediction

Angers will travel to Marseille in great shape after earning five wins in a row across competitions, hoping to build on it on a tough away day and catch up with the top part of Ligue 1 table. However, L’OM have proven to be one the most difficult away days in France and we don’t feel the in-form visitors can snatch the points.

Marseille have suffered two disappointing losses in their last two home outings (1-5 to PSG and 3-4 to Monaco) but they come into the match taking the confidence from their convincing win over Lorient (1-4) last week. Les Phoceens have shown they can indeed score a lot of goals despite having their top goalscorer Bafetambi Gomis sidelined for injury, and we’ll now back them to bag three important home points at 8/13 with BetVictor.

The loss to PSG in late February has made it just two league losses at home for L’OM, and we certainly don’t feel their team spirits will suffer, despite it being a thrashing loss. They have based their success across competitions on fine home displays and they should be able to continue doing so here.

As said, Angers travel in top form themselves and they’ll be no pushovers. They’ve earned wins at CA Bastia (0-1) and Caen (2-3) last week, and although they’re now playing a third consecutive game on the road and we might see some tired legs, we do see them as a serious challenge. Both sides have scored a lot of goals in their most recent outings, and this shapes to promise a high-scoring contest so we’ll also go for Over 2.5 goals FT at Evens with bet365.

Marseille vs. Angers Stats

The sides have met three times over the past two years and we’ve seen Angers secure a win at this ground just after joining the top flight (1-2 in September 2015), but Marseille have returned the favour in May (snatching the points with a narrow 0-1 win). They have shared the spoils in their most recent head-to-head encounter (a 1-1 draw in October), but we do feel L’OM will have more on their rivals in front of the home fans.

We’ll also back a 2-1 home win in the correct score market, as the longshot now looks the best value at 15/2 with Ladbrokes.
