The duo scored all three goals in Bayern’s semi-final victory over Olympique Lyon, firing their team into the final. Gnabry set Bayern on their way, bagging a brace in the first half, Lewandowski putting the game to bed in the closing stages.

The German winger now has nine goals to his name, the Pole 15, and together they have scored an incredible 24 goals, making the two the most prolific duo in the history of the Champions League. The previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo (17) and Gareth Bale (6; 23 goals for Real Madrid in the 2013/14 season) was bettered by Bayern in the match against Lyon. And Gnabry/Lewandowski still have one more game to play to extend the record: The final against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday (9pm kick-off CEST).

The duo are in excellent form at the moment. Lewandowski scored in his last nine appearances in the Champions League; only Ruud van Nistelrooy (2003, 9 games) and Ronaldo (2018, a whopping 11) can boast similar numbers. The Portuguese is also the only player to have scored more goals in a campaign than the Bayern striker. CR7 has scored a total of 17 goals three times. However, he had two more games to do that as there have been no return-leg fixtures from the quarter-finals this year. Lewandowski also has this goal target in his sights on Sunday.
