“We don’t want to lose any time,” explained coach Hansi Flick during Friday’s press conference.

The Poland international is expected to be out for “ten to 14 days,” Flick added.

The achievements of Robert Lewandowski this season are incredible – and his run continued against SC Freiburg.

The Pole scored the important opening goal for FC Bayern in the 3-1 win on Wednesday night to make it 15 goals in 15 games against SCF. That takes the central striker to third place in the list of all-time Bundesliga goalscorers and his 221st goal in Germany’s top flight takes him above Jupp Heynckes (220).

“It’s a great honour to overtake a legend like that. I’m really happy about it,” he said last weekend when he drew level with his former coach. “I’m almost a bit sorry as he was my coach and we worked very well together.” It’s impressive that Lewandowski has only needed 306 games while it took Heynckes 369 matches to clock up 220 goals.
