Olympiacos look to overturn the disappointing display at their own backyard in the first leg when they travel to Israel for the decider against Hapoel Beer Sheva on Wednesday night. The 0-0 score line at full time whistle was least expected at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on 27 July 2016, in a match Olympiacos had superiority over their less experienced opponent. Beer Sheva will take it and believe they have an equal chance in the second leg in front of their own supporters.

Hapoel Beer Sheva won the 2015/16 Israeli Premier League and booked a place in the second round of Champions League qualifiers. They were drawn against FC Sherrif from Moldova. The fixture was won on the back of a 3-2 win at home in the first leg, which they defended well in the return leg by holding the opposition for the 0-0 stalemate. This is their consecutive season in the Champions League qualification round, and they were eliminated in the fixture on last two occasions.

Olympiacos are a dominant force in Greek league since the past few decades. They were present in the group stages of Champions League in the last 6 seasons and will be aiming for the seventh in a row. They made out of the group stages on two occasions and most of their success in Europe is on the basis of a strong home record.

Hapoel Beer Sheva vs Olympiacos: Head-to-Head Stats

The first leg clash on 27 July 2016 at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium was the first ever meeting between Hapoel and Olympiacos.

Hapoel Beer Sheva had played against a Greek side during the 1994/95 UEFA Cup Preliminary Round. They were defeated on both legs of the fixture, 3-1 at Greece and 2-1 in Israel.

Olympiacos have a poor record against clubs from Israel is poor as well. They met Maccabi Haifa on four occasions and managed a win and a draw, both at home. While they lost in each of their two visits so far to Israel.

Hapoel Beer Sheva vs Olympiacos: Prediction

Olympiacos should have finished off this tie at home, now they carry an unpredictable and substantial risk of a humiliating exit from the competition. There are no doubts that the Greek side had far superior quality in terms of personal.

But one might not know what to expect from the side like Hapoel at their own backyard. They side from Israel are a largely unknown entity and from what I have seen in the first leg, this can mount an upset here.

Having said so, I fully back Olympiacos to shrug of the pre-season rustiness and provide a performance of highest quality here. They will start this match cautiously, but expect to play a free flowing game towards the half-hour mark. I also think that this will be a high scoring match and both teams will get on the score sheet.
