Borussia Dortmund boarded the plane to Rome, where they will kick off their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign against Lazio on Tuesday evening (21:00 CET), with 18 outfield players and three goalkeepers. The new international regulations permit 21 players to be included in the squad.

The good news is that Lukasz Piszczek is on board the chartered flight. The Pole was substituted off early in Saturday’s away victory over TSG Hoffenheim after sustaining an injury in the vicinity of his eyes. Tobias Raschl is also with the team after overcoming an injury problem.

But there are some absentees, mostly in defence: Thorgan Hazard, Nico Schulz, Manuel Akanji, Marcel Schmelzer, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Emre Can, who is banned for two European games, are not part of the travelling contingent.
