Lyon vs Lille Preview

Lyon can further strengthen their grip on a top four place with a win over Lille on Saturday. But the away side are in need of points themselves as they remain just two points from the Ligue 1 relegation zone. Lyon have won their last three games at home, conceding just one goal in the process and Lille have not won since December 10 when they defeated Montpellier 2-1.

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette remains in great form this season having already scored 17 goals in 16 appearances. He is best priced at 13/5 to score first in this one. The number 10 has notched seven of his goals at home and 10 away from Parc Olympique Lyonnais in 2016/17. Lyon are hugely reliant on him getting the club into the Champions League next term, with the next highest scorer being Mathieu Valbuena who has notched 5 goals.

The reverse fixture back in November saw a 1-0 win for Lyon as Lille once again struggled in front of goal. Lyon themselves have not been big scorers this season, although they did crush Nantes 6-0 at the back end of November. With this in mind, backing under 2.5 goals to be scored in this fixture could pay dividends if both sides’ form continues as it has this campaign. Lille have scored more than two goals in a game on just three occasions this season, making it unlikely that they will hit the net more than once this weekend.

Lyon are big favourites to win the game, having lost just one of their previous five outings, a 3-2 defeat to SM Caen. They remain 8 points behind third placed Paris St Germain, but they do have a game in hand on the team from the capital.
HEAD TO HEAD
Lyon and Lille have met 31 times so far, with Lyon winning 10 and Lille winning 12. Nine of the games have been draws.
LYON VS LILLE STATS
Lyon are averaging a total of 2.10 points when playing at home this season. Lyon average just 0.60 points away from home.
LYON TEAM NEWS

New signing from Manchester United Memphis Depay could feature in a Lyon starting 11 for the first time after coming off the bench in the 3-1 win over Marseille last week. Lyon are unlikely to make too many changes considering they are on a decent run of form.
LILLE TEAM NEWS

Lille may well stick with the same team who managed a 0-0 draw at Dijon last weekend. Nicola De Preville has scored 4 goals from his 8 starts so they will be looking to him to have a chance of getting something from this one.

Prediction: over 2.5 goal
