Real Madrid embark on another Champions League campaign as Zinedine Zidane’s side host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Alfredo Di Stefano on Wednesday (6:55pm CET) as they bid to pick up the first three points and extend their unbeaten home record against Ukrainian opponents.

Throughout the club’s history, Madrid have faced three Ukrainian sides in European competitions: Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar Donetsk and Chernomorets Odessa,

none of whom have claimed victory on madridista territory, where the Whites boast a record of five wins and two draws.

Champions League & UEFA Cup

Of the Ukrainian sides, Dynamo Kiev are the team to have paid the most visits to Real Madrid, having travelled to the Spanish capital on five occasions (three wins and two draws). Chernomorets Odessa visited the madridistas in the 1985/86 UEFA Cup (2-1), whilst Shakhtar Donetsk suffered a 4-0 reverse at the Bernabéu in the group stage of the 2015/16 edition. That match was the only previous head-to-head meeting in Madrid against Wednesday’s opponents.
