The CONI chief praises the Italian people for their adaptability during the current crisis and confesses that he looks forward ‘with urgency’ to resume activities and return to stadiums.

“Like all fans, I long for football,” he told Sportero. “Both for amateur level and for watching from my sofa or in stadiums.

“We wait with urgency and at the same time patience for the dynamics, the evolution and the data and numbers, hoping to return to normal as soon as possible, to watch a football match or to play with friends.

“We all had to adapt to this reality, and we all did it with a great test of balance, wisdom and respect. At the moment we are talking about resuming training activities, but competitions are something else.

“You have to be very careful in making distinctions.”
