According to Sky Sport Italia, Mediaset Premium, Sportitalia and Calciomercato.it, the tactician remains very tense indeed after a meeting with President Erick Thohir in America and is considering a resignation.

He does not feel the club is listening to his requests for squad improvements and has a fundamentally different idea on how the team should be put together.

New Chinese owners Suning Group want to focus on promising youth, whereas Mancini repeatedly asks for experienced players like Yaya Toure and Antonio Candreva.

The possible exit of Mauro Icardi, who was in negotiations with Napoli today, further raised the tension.

Thohir reiterated Inter must qualify for the Champions League, which means a top three Serie A finish, but Mancini doesn’t feel the squad is strong enough to achieve that.

The next four days will be decisive, as that is when Suning Group should draw up the transfer strategy for this summer.

It has already been reported over the past couple of weeks that Leonardo is the first choice to step in should Mancio leave before the season starts.

Mancini’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season and Inter do not seem to have any intention of renewing it.
