yet the Blaugrana have been dealt a blow in trying to convince their star to stay as Messi does not want to meet with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

All of this has come after Messi sent a burofax to Barcelona on Tuesday evening stating his desire to leave for free,

which the club responded to by stating that the clause to free himself from his contract is no longer valid and that he has a 700 million euro release clause.

Ramon Planes, Barcelona’s new sporting director,

made a public statement in which he assured that the club are not contemplating Messi’s departure and that a series of movements would be made internally.

One of them was for Bartomeu to meet with Messi as the president wants to speak with the player directly and try to convince him not to leave, but the Argentine does not plan on talking to the president.
