A Super Classic football games is in prospects when Mexico and Germany take the field at Arena Fonte Nova for their Group C fixture of Rio Olympic games 2016 on Friday.

Mexico’s football team booked their tickets to Rio after winning the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Championship qualification last year. They defeated Honduras 2-0 in the finals. Mexico won the gold medal in Men’s Football category at the London Olympics 2012, now they will hope to start their 2016 campaign on the same note.

Germany are entering the Men’s Olympic football for the first time the country’s reunification. They had won two bronze medals as West Germany, in 1964 Tokyo and 1998 Seoul. They booked their place in Rio after making the semi-finals of the under-21 UEFA Euro Championship 2015 hosted in Czech Republic.

The Mexican under-23 team coached by Raul Gutierrez had a number of talented youngsters. The 21-year old Pachuca forward Hirving Lozano, who caught the eye of Manchester United in the transfer window is the pick of the bunch.

While they will be benefited by the presence of Oribe Peralta, who was a key figure in their 2012 Olympics gold winning team. The experienced goal keeper Alfredo Talavera and defender Jorge Torres Nilo are the other two over-aged players alongside Peralta.

Except Erick Torres, who play his trade in the Major League Soccer, every other player in the squad represents Mexican Liga MX.
