One of the most prestigious awards in world football is up for grabs on Monday night. French football magazine France Football will award the 2021 Ballon d’Or in Paris, and FC Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski is among the top favorites. After his record-breaking 41 goals in the Bundesliga last season, the 33-year-old is already up to 25 goals in 20 competitive appearances in the current campaign.

“No player deserves it more than Robert. As well as his hunger for goals, he has an incredible attitude towards the sport,” said FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann on Saturday following the Bundesliga win at home to Arminia Bielefeld, adding: “When I see some of his Instagram pictures with his six-pack, I don’t think he’s sitting back. If he does sit back, he gets up again and does a sit-up.” Nagelsmann will also be there in Paris supporting his striker. “I’ll be in attendance, crossing my fingers for him. Hopefully we’ll come back with the trophy.”
