Nice vs Caen Preview and Prediction
Nice will host Caen for their Matchday 29 clash on Friday, after securing the points with three narrow wins over rivals struggling for consistency and points – 0-1 at Lorient, 2-1 over Montpellier, and 0-1 at Dijon last week. We’ll now back them to continue their streak and bag the home points here too, with a win coming at 8/13 with bet365.
Les Aiglons have thus put on quality displays recently but their woes in the final third have been obvious, with several key players (including Plea and Balotelli) missing the matches. However, we’ve seen Wylan Cyprien (three goals in his last five appearances) and Mickael Le Bihan (two goals against Montpellier) step up and they’re now our top options in the goalscoring market.
Caen have also finished February earning two narrow wins (1-0 over Nancy and 0-1 at Saint-Etienne), climbing out of the immediate danger zone. However, with a disappointing home loss to Angers (2-3) behind them and poor overall away records, we don’t feel they’re travelling to Nice on top of their game and it’s a longshot to assume they can cause an upset at Allianz Riviera.
With both sides struggling to consistently bag goals, Under 2.5 goals FT comes off as one of the best ways to approach the fixture and we’ll go for it at 4/5 with Ladbrokes. Nice have indeed maintained their fine defensive performances and one goal could be enough to untangle this one too, as many have rated the bet banker material already.

The sides have met twice in 2016, where Caen have been able to secure wins over rivals in front of the home crowd (2-0 in January and 1-0 in November although Nice seemed overpowering). Interestingly, Nice have earned four wins and a draw in five matches before that, and while we do feel this will be a similarly narrow contest, the home side should now have what it takes to lock the points at Allianz Riviera.
We’ll also go for a more adventurous bet and back a 1-0 correct score prediction, which comes at an eye-catching 11/2 with BetVictor and looks the best value in the market.
