They created the first opening when Pablo Sarabia fired just wide (27′).

Montpellier’s aggressive approach made life difficult, but set-pieces afforded Paris a potential way through. A Neymar Jr. free-kick was well saved by Geronimo Rulli (30′) as the Brazilian threatened to open the scoring. Instead, the hosts did so when Téji Savanier’s corner was flicked on by Daniel Congré and the ball ricocheted into his own net off Leandro Paredes (0-1, 41′).

Paris stepped up their game after the restart, and when Pedro Mendes was sent off (72′), that was the cue for the visitors to take charge.

From the resulting free-kick, Neymar picked out the top corner of Rulli’s goal (1-1, 74′). He then found Kylian Mbappé, who stepped away from Arnaud Souquet before putting Paris in front (1-2, 76′). Neymar struck a post before Mbappé teed up Mauro Icardi for a superb half-volley to complete the win (1-3, 81′), and make it a perfect week.
