Three United players were on the same pitch in Marseille this Friday evening as Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane faced Eric Bailly.

Our trio all started the match – and all of them made way at various points in the second half, as their coaches used the friendly to rotate their line-ups.

Varane, for example, was replaced in the 59th minute as Arsenal loanee William Saliba earned his first cap for France, the day after turning 20. Bailly was also the first player to be substituted for his team, as Odilon Kossonou came on in his place.

Finally, Pogba left the field in the 89th minute as Adrien Rabiot joined the fray for injury time, during which France snatched a last-gasp winner through Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Ivory Coast had been holding out for a surprise draw, after their 19th-minute opener from Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe and an equaliser scored for France moments later by former Gunners forward Olivier Giroud
