Premier League plans
What sets the English top-flight apart from the likes of La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga, however, is that it had been apparent for some time where the title is headed.

While hotly-contested scraps for supremacy continue in the rest of Europe’s major leagues, Liverpool’s ridiculous 25 point lead atop the Premier League table meant that Jurgen Klopp’s men were actually just two wins away from clinching their first league title in 30 years before the coronavirus pandemic struck.

This, amongst other circumstances, has led to widespread calls for the FA not to call an end to the league season until every other possible avenue has been thoroughly explored.

And, if the latest speculation stemming from the English media this afternoon is to be believed, then such calls look to have been answered.

As per the aforementioned report from football.london, the FA and Premier League are currently in the process of putting plans in place to finish out the remainder of the campaign.

These plans entail a return to action in July, from which point all remaining fixtures would be played out behind closed doors.

Such a process would be expected to take place over the course of 4 to 6 weeks, meaning the season would likely finish up sometime in August.
