Sergio Ramos shone in the 1-0 away win over Galatasaray, win number 75 of his career in the European Cup. Thanks to this, the captain is now the Real Madrid player with the second most victories in the top continental competition, surpassing Raúl’s record (74) between 1995 and 2010. The only player ahead of Sergio Ramos is Casillas (90).

The Andalusian defender’s first victory was in September 2005, against Olympiacos at the Bernabeu. Since then, he has made history in this competition by winning four European Cups. He is also the only Real Madrid captain to have won the title three times. He’s found himself amongst the goals too in this competition, scoring 12 in the European Cup, some as decisive as the ones in the finals of la Décima and la Undécima.

Defender with highest number of appearances
Ramos’s outing at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium saw him become the defender with the most Champions League appearances to his name. The Andalusian stopper, who has featured 121 times, surpassed Roberto Carlos’s tally of 120. Coming in behind the madridista duo is Carles Puyol (115).
