Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig look for their eight consecutive league win as they host a resurgent Schalke 04 at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday. Leipzig continue going from strength to strength and their dominate 4-1 win away to SC Freiburg last Friday kept them three points clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich at the top – Leipzig’s Timo Werner scored his third brace of the season in the same match. Werner is now the joint 4th top goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 7 goals, alongside Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, and his form is enough to make him our choice for an anytime goalscorer here at 21/10.
Meanwhile, Schalke haven’t looked back since their 4-0 win at home to Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of October. Schalke are unbeaten in seven consecutive Bundesliga matches after losing all of their first five and come into Saturday’s clash off the back of three dominant wins against Werder Bremen (3-1), Wolfsburg (1-0) and Darmstadt (3-1). Despite a few injuries to crucial forwards, Schalke have adapted well and goals are coming from all over – as many as three of their midfielders/wingers (Alessandro Schopf, Choupo-Moting and Tottenham loanee Nabil Bentaleb) have scored 3 or more goals so far this season.
RB Leipzig are the bookies’ favourites ahead of this match at 1/1, which isn’t particularly surprising given that the Red Bulls are the most inform team in the Bundesliga, winning all of their last 7 matches, and have one of the best home records in the division (W4 D1).
