There’s simply no respite in the league as Real Madrid’s demanding September schedule continues apace. Three days on from contesting Matchday 6 of the LaLiga campaign, it’s now time for another tough test as Madrid face the derby at the Santiago Bernabéu (8:45pm CEST).

The aim for the Whites, who are sitting top of the pile and level on points with Barcelona heading into the seventh round of fixtures, is to maintain their perfect winning record at the Bernabéu. Getafe, Leganés and Espanyol, in LaLiga, and Roma, in the Champions League, have all succumbed to defeat against the madridistas.

THIS IS REAL MADRID’S FINAL OUTING IN SEPTEMBER.
“It’s a big challenge and a different kind of game. We have to go into it feeling prepared on all levels: both in footballing terms and emotionally”, declared Julen Lopetegui. The Real Madrid boss will be without Isco, who’s recovering from surgery for acute appendicitis, and Marcelo, who’s suffering with a muscular injury in the soleus of his right leg.

Best spell of the season
The visitors are currently enjoying their best spell of the campaign. Atlético are riding a four-game unbeaten run, a sequence which has seen them come up against Éibar, Monaco, Getafe and Huesca and take maximum points in their last three outings. What’s more, they’ve kept clean sheets in their last two LaLiga games. The visitors’ Stefan Savić is set to miss out through injury.
