Schalke 04 vs Augsburg Preview and Prediction
Augsburg travel to Gelsenkirchen for their Matchday 24 clash at Schalke 04 on the back of a home draw against RB Leipzig (2-2) last week and generally somewhat better form since late January. However, we don’t feel they can build on it on Sunday as we find it very hard backing against Schalke at home despite their recent slump.
Schalke 04 come into this week’s clashes after two losses (3-0 at Bayern Munich and 4-2 at Borussia Monchengladbach) suffered last week and need to bounce back quick with a tough schedule ahead. They have been very good at home throughout the season, though, and this does seem like a perfect chance for that so we’ll back them to win at 3/4 with BetVictor.
Die Konigsblauen have lost just two home games since September across competitions, and their home form has been what’s keeping them outside of the immediate danger zone in Bundesliga. The last week’s losses will not do wonders for the team morale but we do feel they’ll now have what it takes to beat the visitors who have struggled for consistency on the road.
Schalke have been scoring and conceding a lot of goals recently, though, and we might be in for a thriller on the day. Augsburg have had their share of exciting matches, as four of their last five outings ended with three or more goals, so we’ll go for a similar display here and back Over 2.5 goals FT with 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

The sides have met twice and shared the spoils twice in 2016, as we’ve seen two 1-1 draws (on this ground in May and at WWK Arena in Augsburg in October. Schalke do have much better head-to-head records against their rivals (six wins, five draws, and just one loss), and we do feel they’ll have more on them in front of the home fans this time around.
