Sevilla vs Valencia prediction

Closing game of the Sunday match programme in Spanish La Liga is set to take place at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as home side Sevilla welcoming Valencia, with both teams looking to bounce back from their disappointing midweek results.

Three in a row

Sevilla are on a downslide at the moment, having lost their three consecutive games in all competitions. What is more, Los Nervionenses have lost six of their last eight matches, with wins over Getafe (5-0) and against Real Madrid (3-2) sandwiched in between. Unai Emery is under fire following the latest set-back in Germany. His charges have been dealt another UEFA Champions League blow, having been beaten 4-2 at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach. Sevilla are sitting bottom of group D with three points to the name and the last round in group stage of Europe’s top competition will be the final opportunity to at least secure Europa League spot. Having already demonstrated that they are capable of beating the best, Sevilla will need to start showing consistency if they are to improve their La Liga standings. Emeri’s charges are occupying the 12th position, four points short of their Sunday rivals. Yevhen Komoplyanka will be the one to watch as the former Dnipro winger has shown great potential, despite the fact that Sevilla boss has mostly used him as an impact substitute.

Emeri is faced with a severe selection headache as there are five players on his injury list. Nico Pareja, Daniel Carrico, Beto, Gael Kakuta and Marco Andreolli are all ruled out for the occasion.

Valencia to end the poor record

Los Che have failed to win a single away game against Sevilla since 2004. It has been the total of 15 games in all competitions since their last on-road victory over the Sunday rivals and the players are highly motivated to end the hoodoo. The upcoming trip to Seville will also be the chance to bounce back from the midweek set-back against Zenit in the UEFA Champions League. Valencia have been dealt a 2-0 defeat in Russia which left them in the third place in Group H with six points to their name, and the final round will see Los Che battling out with Gent for the remaining place in the knock-out stage. A couple of inconsistent weeks are behind Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, which is coming off from the 1-1 draw against Las Palmas in the last round of La Liga. Valencia are seventh in the standings, a point short of Eibar who are occupying the European spot at the moment and the pressure is mounting on Los Che boss who is no longer the favoured figure among the majority of the fans. Top-fur finish is an absolute must for the owner Peter Lim who has invested almost €200 million in signings since taking over.

Nuno Santo’s job will not be made any easier with a couple of major selection problems. Diego Alves, Skhodran Mustafi, Rodrigo and Alvaro Negredo areall injured for the affair, while Antonio Barragan and Pablo Piatti are doubtful.

Sevilla vs Valencia betting tip

Valencia are coming to Seville with a huge load on their shoulders, following the latest European struggles which have put the manager under great pressure. Nuno will have to write history at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in order to save his job and I expect to see an open affair with both teams hitting hard from the off
