LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS & PREVIEW

Liverpool will be disappointed with their performance against Sunderland and Plymouth in their last two outings and will be desperate for a win here.

This is a great chance for Klopp to win his first trophy as the Liverpool manager and the whole side will be up for this. The Reds have done well against the Saints in the past and will look to extend that record this week as well.

Klopp will be without Danny Ings, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson for Wednesday’s clash. Philippe Coutinho is back in full training and could return here.

Predicted Liverpool Starting Lineup (4-3-3): Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner; Emre Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Firmino, Origi, Coutinho

SOUTHAMPTON TEAM NEWS & PREVIEW

Southampton are under a lot of pressure right now and Claude Puel needs to deliver against Liverpool.

The Saints are without a win in seven of their last nine matches in all competitions and have lost three of their last four. The away sides are clear favourites for this one and Southampton must do their best to change that.

They have been far from impressive on home soil and have lost both of their last two matches in front of their own fans. Puel’s men must get a positive result on Wednesday if they want to beat Liverpool over two legs.

Austin, Boufal, Targett, McCarthy, Pied, Hesketh are all ruled out with injuries. Jose Fonte has handed in a transfer request and could be dropped.

Predicted Southampton Starting Lineup (4-3-3): Forster; Soares, Yoshida, Dijk, Bertrand; Romeu, Davis, Hojbjerg; Tadic, Long, Redmond

SOUTHAMPTON VS LIVERPOOL BETTING TIPS

Liverpool have been scoring freely this season and the last six matches between these two sides have produced a total of 19 goals. Over 2.5 goals seem likely.

SOUTHAMPTON VS LIVERPOOL PREDICTION

Liverpool are firm favourites to get a positive result away from home.

However, the Reds will be weakened by the absence of star player Sadio Mane, who is away on international duty. Jurgen Klopp’s men will have to improve on their last couple of performances.

Southampton have the quality to hurt the Reds and this should be a close contest.
