Upon arriving in Cardiff, the boss has explained that Paul Pogba hasn’t travelled to South Wales as a result of picking up an injury late in Friday’s training session before the squad’s flight from Manchester.

He also told us why Matteo Darmian, Joel Pereira, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez aren’t included in the party for our final pre-season match.

“We have a few players back at the Aon Training Complex,” said Ole. “Joel Pereira tweaked his back last week so he’s back there training. Romelu and Alexis are working on their fitness with Matteo Darmian. Eric, obviously is injured and out until Christmas time.

“At the end of the session today, Paul got a back spasm, the same issue he had last week, when he missed the session in Norway. But I think he’ll be available early next week.”

Pogba’s absence means Ole has a 24-man squad to choose from for the game against the Serie A giants, which is scheduled to kick off at 17:30 BST on Saturday.
