Romelu Lukaku put Inter into their first European semi-final since 2010, when they won the treble, has his goal gave the Nerazzurri a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Monday evening.Back then, Jose Mourinho’s Inter had Diego Milito to call upon, and now Antonio Conte has his own goalscorer in Lukaku, who became the first player to hit the back of the net in nine consecutive Europa League/UEFA Cup matches.Nicolo Barella opened the scoring early on for Inter, before Lukaku showed great strength to double their lead 21 minutes in.But just three minutes later Kai Havertz gave Bayer a lifeline as he got on the end of a nice ball by Kevin Volland.Inter were twice denied penalties by VAR, with the first ruling against a handball, and the second catching a handball in the build up to the spot kick being awarded.Nevertheless, Inter hung on and either Shakhtar Donetsk or Basel will face off against the Nerazzurri, in what will also be their 18th last-four match in European competition.
