Three clean sheets in three appearances and a continuing undefeated run in the team have earned Thiago Silva a place on the eight-man shortlist for October’s Premier League Player of the Month award.
The Brazilian has been a calming, commanding influence at the back for the Blues, developing a defensive partnership with Kurt Zouma that has seen the pair keep out every opponent they have faced so far in all competitions.

After making his Premier League debut in late September, the 36-year-old has settled in quickly, featuring throughout in three of our four league outings in October. He was particularly impressive away at Old Trafford as we kept Manchester United at bay in a 0-0 draw, before putting in an unruffled performance against Burnley a week later in a 3-0 victory.

The defender’s experience helped Frank Lampard’s side collect eight points from 12 last month, though he was absent for our 3-3 home draw with Southampton.

Che Adams (Southampton), Conor Coady (Wolves), Pablo Fornals (West Ham), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Kyle Walker (Man City) and Son Heung-min are the other nominees for the individual prize, with the winner announced next Friday 13 November.
