The Group I of the European World Cup Qualifiers has certainly opened up after matchday 2 as Ukraine and Turkey settled for a 2-2 draw. With Iceland and Croatia winning their respective matches, it is a clear indication that this will be a tight four horse race until the final days of the group stage.

Ukraine have drawn their two games in the group, first against Iceland followed by the latest against Turkey. Shevchenko’s side were leading 2-0 at half-time, but were unable to withstand the Turkish pressure in the second half. The positive for them is that they have faced two strong sides in the group. With 2 points from 2 matches, they will come into Sunday’s game against Kosovo sitting third in the group.

The newbies Kosovo were thrashed 6-0 at home by Croatia in their second game of the group. They held Finland to a 1-1 draw in their opening group game and will start Sunday’s match sitting bottom of the group.

Ukraine vs Kosovo: Head-to-Head Stats

The Sunday’s European leg of World Cup Qualifiers will be the first official meeting between Kosovo and Ukraine in a football match.

Ukraine vs Kosovo: Prediction

The head-coach Andriy Shevchenko will be pleased to face a side of Kosovo’s stature after earning a point a-piece against the two strongest sides in the group. They can also boast of a strong record at home after remaining unbeaten in 9 of their 10 matches. The lone defeat came against Spain, while they won 6 and drawn 3. This particular fixture is played out of Ukraine, but it is not going to make a huge difference.

Kosovo have some excellent talents in their squad, but they are relatively new and inexperienced at the international level. Ukraine must not have any problems to win this through on a comfortable margin.
