The first piece of news concerns the future of Georginio Wijnaldum.

Dutch international Wijnaldum, despite his crucial role in Liverpool’s midfield, has of course been hotly tipped for an Anfield exit this summer.

This comes with the 29-year-old’s contract on Merseyside set to expire next summer, and new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman reportedly eager to coax his fellow countryman to the Camp Nou.

In addition, Wijnaldum would likely need to make way if Liverpool’s long-standing pursuit of Thiago Alcantara is to bear fruit.

If the latest word stemming from the English media this evening is to be believed, however, then the Reds mainstay’s exit may in fact not be as clear-cut as previously thought.

As per a report from Sky Sports, Wijnaldum has held a ‘productive conversation’ with Jurgen Klopp, over his future at the club.

It is suggested that both player and manager made clear their desire to continue working alongside one another, with Wijnaldum, in turn, hopeful of an imminent contract offer on the part of the Premier League champions
