Real Madrid players are unlikely to return to work any time soon, according to AS. The COVID-19 crisis has put almost everything at halt all around the world and football in Europe is just among the many entities to fall in that category.’

The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has spread all over the globe with rapidness as Europe and the USA are the new epicenters of it. Over half of the 40,600-plus deaths have been in Spain and Italy alone as both the countries have been paralysed by the highly contagious virus.

Both Italy and Spain are in complete lockdown in a bid to contain the growth of virus. Real Madrid players, meanwhile, went into quarantine after their basketball star Trey Thompkins was diagnosed with COVID-19 last month.

Since then, the club and its players and staff have been isolating themselves and trying to be in shape by working as much as possible from home. Meanwhile, a source within the club told AS that there is no chance that football could return before a vaccine or treatment is invented.

“At present, the plan to return [to work] is non-existent,” a qualified source from within the club has told AS. “There will not be a return to play football until there is an effective treatment or a vaccine.”

The report claims that the Blancos are pessimistic about the league starting again, which is why Zinedine Zidane is already thinking about next season.
