Carlo Ancelotti’s first friendly in charge of Bayern Munich was a 4-3 thriller against fifth-tier SV Lippstadt. “The first half was good.”

The former Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Chelsea and PSG Coach took over from Pep Guardiola this summer.

His first outing did not quite go to plan, squeezing past SV Lippstadt 4-3 and losing Arjen Robben to a groin injury.

He used a 4-3-3 system and Bayern were 3-0 up at half-time before crumbling in the second half.

“These are games in which we test our form,” Ancelotti told Sport 1 in German.

“We didn’t want to take any risks with the players. In any case, the first half was good.

“We trained well this week and all the players are focused. We will give our best and with hard work, we can succeed.”
