Manchester United’s fractious summer programme comes to an end on Sunday night with a visit to German champions Bayern Munich.
When this fixture was originally announced, there was much excitement (and Twitter banter) as both sides looked forward to a glamour fixture.
As the summer has worn on though, Manchester United’s summer plans have looked anything but well thought out.

Bayern Munich have had an active summer, but have only won one of their three matches. A 3-1 win over PSG was followed up with defeats to Juventus and Manchester City.
Next Sunday, Bayern Munich play Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Super Cup. Manchester United kick off their Premier League season with a home match versus Leicester City on Friday night.
