Bernardo Silva says he cannot knock City’s efforts against Wolves, despite the disappointment of letting a two-goal lead slip to lose 3-2 at Molineux.

Ederson’s early sending off saw City down to ten men for over 80 minutes, and a late fightback from the hosts saw them cancel out Raheem Sterling’s brace and take maximum points.

But Bernardo insists the defeat was not for a want of trying from him and his teammates: “I think the effort from the team was really good.

“It was frustrating… the way we played with ten men and to lose the three points.”

A long-range effort from Adama Traore gave Wolves hope with 35 minutes left to play, before a tap in from Raul Jimenez and Matt Doherty’s angled finish saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s men nick the win in the final ten minutes.

And while Bernardo did admit the goals were preventable, he also acknowledged the odds were stacked against Pep Guardiola’s men holding on.

The Portuguese midfielder said: “We did really well until a point where little mistakes cost us two goals, and then it’s a point where we were really tired.
