Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid predictions for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final second-leg match
Real trying to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit to reach the last four at the Estadio de Balaidos

Real Madrid are the outsiders with the bookmakers to qualify from this tie as they bid to overturn the shock defeat they suffered at the Bernabeu Stadium last week.

The European champions had not lost at home since February, but three days after their Spanish record 40-match unbeaten run in all competitions was shattered by Sevilla they also had another long-standing sequence ended.

All three goals were scored within seven minutes midway through the second half as former Liverpool striker Iago Aspas and defender Jonny netted for Celta Vigo either side of Marcelo finding the net for Real Madrid.

Since then, Zinedine Zidane’s side have indicated the minor blip could be behind them by returning to winning ways at home to Malaga, 2-1 thanks to a Sergio Ramos double.

But it’s Celta who are in the driving seat to reach the Copa del Rey semi-finals, although their winning run which was extended to six straight matches with the Bernabeu victory was snapped when they lost 1-0 at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Nevertheless, Eduardo Berizzo’s side are very strong on their own pitch and only Real Madrid and Sevilla have more home wins in La Liga than them this season, although they do tend to concede plenty of goals there as well.

With the away-goals rule in force in this competition, the two Celta bagged in the capital could come in very handy here as they try to claim a major scalp.

A high-scoring contest would suit Real, but we think the bookies have got it right and that the Sky Blues may just cling on and end their opponents’ dreams of the treble.
