Emerson says he and the rest of the Chelsea squad are confident of reaching our aim of a top-four finish in the Premier League ahead of today’s match against Everton.

The Brazilian-born full-back has been in good form of late, starting our last two league fixtures after his impressive performance in the Carabao Cup final, and acknowledges how important it is for the team and the club to return to the Champions League next season.

With matters so tight around the top of the table, every point could be crucial as we enter the business end of the campaign, but he is confident we will get the reward he feels our performances have earned.

‘I am confident,’ Emerson said. ‘That’s what we’re aiming for, the top four. We have a good chance to make it, the other teams competing for the top four, they have to play each other, and we deserve it I think. We have a good chance. The season has not been fantastic, but I think we deserve to be in the top four and we have a good chance to be there.

‘It’s very important, not just for me, for everyone. The Champions League is the biggest club competition there is and we always talk in the dressing room about how important it is and that we need to play the Champions League at all costs. So we need to just get there.’
