Germany are still on course for the European Championship. On Matchday six of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, the DFB team, despite being down to ten men, clearly beat Estonia 3-0 (HT: 0-0) in Group C. They now lie in second place behind the Netherlands, with both teams on 15 points. In front of 12,000 spectators in the A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, Ilkay Gündogan set the Germans on course for victory with a brace in the 51st and 57th minutes. Substitute Timo Werner made sure of the three points with a 71st-minute strike.

Three Bayern pros – Niklas Süle, Joshua Kimmich, and captain Manuel Neuer were all in the starting eleven. Serge Gnabry, on the other hand, was forced to pull out at short notice due to muscular problems. The Germans struggled for a long time against the disciplined and well-organized Estonians, especially as they had to play almost the entire match a man down following a red card against Emre Can in the 14th minute. After a goalless first half, Gündogan finally broke the hosts’ resistance with two deflected shots.

Lewandowski books EURO 2020 ticket
Robert Lewandowski and Poland, on the other hand, already have their tickets to the European Championship after a 2-0 (HT: 0-0) victory over North Macedonia. In Warsaw, Przemysław Frankowski, who had just come on and Arkadiusz Milik sealed the Poles’ home victory with goals in the 74th and 80th minutes respectively. With 19 points, the Bayern striker’s team top Group G ahead of Austria (16), who won 1-0 in Slovenia without the injured David Alaba, which kept their hopes of participating in EURO 2020 intact.

Perišić draws in Wales
Ivan Perišić and Croatia also still have EURO 2020 qualification firmly in their own hands. In Cardiff, the reigning runners-up had to settle for a 1-1 (HT: 1-1) draw against Wales, but they remain on course in Group E with 14 points ahead of Hungary (12) and Slovakia (10). Nikola Vlašić fired the visitors into an early lead after just nine minutes before Gareth Bale scored the equalizer deep into 1st half injury time. A win in the last group match against Slovakia, who have played a game less will seal qualification for Perišić & Co.
