MILAN – Inter picked up their sixth consecutive league win today, beating Spezia 2-1 to move up to 30 points. Achraf Hakimi was the man who broke the deadlock, scoring his fourth league goal of the season after previously netting against Benevento and Bologna (twice). Since the three-points-per-win era began, the Moroccan is the first Inter defender to have scored at least four goals in his first 13 appearances in his debut season in Serie A.

“We knew that it was an important match,” said Hakimi after the game. “After the win against Napoli, we wanted to approach the Christmas break in a positive fashion and build on our results with a win. Scudetto? We know that everyone is talking about it, but we need to take things game by game and not look too far ahead.

“I’m obviously pleased to have scored, but I’m especially happy because I helped the team. We’re working hard and doing what the Coach is asking of us, we want to grow.”

Following his goal, Hakimi mimed a phone call: “My celebration? It’s something that I do among friends, it’s a joke about a song that we like.”
